Overview

API Management for Surfing the Next Innovation Waves: GenAI and Open Banking

In a world driven by AI innovation, there is no AI without API management. APIs are the unseen force powering AI’s ability to connect, scale, and deliver value—and apidays NYC is the premier event dedicated to mastering this critical intersection of technology and strategy.

“No AI Without API Management,” apidays NYC brings developers, architects, and business leaders together to explore how APIs are the key enablers for building, managing, and scaling AI projects. From secure data exchange to real-time monitoring, APIs don’t just support AI—they define its success.

At apidays NYC 2025, you’ll learn to:

  • Design APIs for AI-first architectures: Build flexible, scalable APIs that power intelligent systems.
  • Secure the AI ecosystem: Address the unique security challenges of APIs in AI environments.
  • Optimize performance with API monitoring: Ensure seamless, reliable API operation for data-hungry AI models.
  • Scale AI with API lifecycle management: Create strategies to manage APIs as essential assets for AI deployment.
  • Leverage AI for API management: Discover how AI can enhance API efficiency and user experiences.

APIs are more than connectors—they are the foundation of AI’s success. At apidays, you’ll gain the insights, tools, and best practices to transform APIs into a competitive advantage for your AI projects.

Registration and Participation

The OAI Track is an integral part of API Days New York 2025. Attendees have to register through the registration page of API Days New York 2025

OAI Track Program:

  • Erik Wilde“OAI Track Welcome and OpenAPI in the Age of AI” OpenAPI has seen a lot of success since it was created as Swagger in 2010 and became OpenAPI in 2016. What is the reason for its continued momentum and how does the landscape change with AI entering the picture in a variety of ways? We look at how OpenAPI can help you, how OAI can help you using OpenAPI better, and how AI means that you have to slightly adjust the way you design and manage your APIs.
  • Mike Amundsen“Designing APIs with OpenAPI: Build the Right APIs the Right Way” This session covers core principles and modern techniques for designing effective, scalable APIs that meet real-world needs including how to leverage the OpenAPI Specification to create clear, reusable, and maintainable API contracts that drive efficient development and robust client-server interactions. Whether you are a designer, programmer, architect, or maintainer, this session will offer valuable insights into building great web APIs.
  • Frank Kilcommins“Getting the Right API Faster: DX and AX with Example Mapping, OpenAPI, and Arazzo” As AI-augmented tools begin accelerating how APIs are created, the risk of misaligned intent grows. Copilot-style automation can generate endpoints quickly—but without human-centered techniques to shape purpose and behavioural, we risk delivering faster… the wrong thing. Have we ever actually been good at API requirements? In this talk, I’ll explore how techniques like Example Mapping—drawn from Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD)—can guide API delivery with clarity and empathy, even as AI takes a larger role in the development process. I’ll look at how this human input can support the accurate creation of machine-readable formats like OpenAPI and Arazzo, enabling alignment across design, testing, documentation, and consumption. I’ll also zoom out and consider a broader question: how do we build APIs that deliver great Developer Experience (DX) and meaningful Agent Experiences (AX) in a world increasingly mediated by AI consumers? Through examples, practical framing, and some live demos, this session will offer a model for using behavioral techniques and AI capabilities together—so that the intent behind your APIs is never lost in translation.
