SUMMARY:apidays Singapore 2024
DESCRIPTION:Event: apidays Singapore \nDate: April 17-18\, 2024 \nVenue: The Arts House at The Old Parliament \nOverview\nCustomers are demanding services that help them navigate a changing world\, delivering personalised solutions at scale\, across multiple channels and touchpoints. \nAPIs are the glue that connect businesses\, customers\, government and their partner ecosystems. They enable business processes to embed AI-enabled and partner services to improve customer experience\, employee productivity and cost savings. And APIs connect the tools to manage your tech stack to keep it sustainable and secure. \nOAI Track Program\, April 18\, 2024\nLinks to presentations will be added as they become available. \nOAI Track Introductions and the State of OpenAPI\n\n\n\nSpeaker: Erik Wilde\, OAI Ambassador\, INNOQ\nLinkedIn Posts: It’s a wrap day 2\nLinkedIn Posts: Goodbye to Singapore\n\n\nBest-In-Class Logistics APIs: The Power of Standards in DHL’s Planet-Scale API program\n\nSpeaker: Mario Alvarez\, Software Engineer\, API Group at DHL\nAbstract: In today’s digital age\, APIs have become the building blocks of business transformation\, enabling connectivity\, and amplifying capabilities. This talk will walk you through our journey at DHL Group towards crafting best-in-class logistics APIs as enablers\, empowering our customers to grow and expand. We will explore how adopting standards helped us overcome challenges along the way.\n\n\nIntroducing a Practical API Maturity Assessment using an OpenAPI example to determine cross-organisational maturity\n\nSpeaker: Adrian Melillo\, COO & Co-founder at Excelsa\nAbstract: This presentation introduces an API maturity assessment model that has multiple dimensions to provide both an end-to-end and cross organisational view providing practical advice using an ITIL-based approach. In this session we will explain in more detail how our assessment model can help your organisation start on the right path on your API journey or drive additional value from existing APIs with advice across people\, process and technology. We will do this by referencing some specific examples of evaluating how organisations implement standards\, and specifically OpenAPI\, to provide best practice across each of these pillars.\n\n\nOpenAPI for Code & Docs Generation: Lessons from 1 Million API Definitions\n\nSpeaker: Sohaib Tariq\, Product Manager at APIMatic\nAbstract: OpenAPI-based Code Generation has become Ubiquitous. You can take your pick of Opensource or Proprietary tools that require only your OpenAPI Definition to generate API Clients and Reference Documentation. However\, OpenAPI and other popular API specification formats do not enforce any standards for Code Generation. Thus we often see Code Generators creating ugly or downright unusable code for API Definitions that are Syntactically and Semantically correct. This talk will draw upon the learnings from analyzing over 1 million API Definitions in various formats\, predominantly OpenAPI/Swagger. It will highlight common mistakes made by Developers which are not typically highlighted by OpenAPI Validation and Linting tools but can negatively impact the quality of generated Code and Documentation. The talk will emphasize how the right validation and linting process can help you overcome all of these issues efficiently in order to help you build a world-class Developer Experience for your API.\n\n\nAPI Gateway integration with Identity Management\n\nSpeaker: Madhu Sudan Jangid\, Fractional CTO at Mission Plus\nAbstract: How API Gateways can be used to enhance security postures of an Organization. The decision factors of choosing a right Gateway tool for different use cases. Different design patterns and how the limitations can be solved for the said patterns.

SUMMARY:apidays Paris 2023
DESCRIPTION:apidays Paris December 2023\nPost Event Report\nConference Theme\nIn today’s intricate digital landscape\, APIs have emerged as powerful conduits for innovation\, bridging the gaps and unlocking new realms of possibility. This year\, apidays Paris revolves around four strong pillars: “Software\, Sovereignty\, Society\, Sustainability.”\nSoftware: Software & APIs are the pulsing heart of the digital revolution\, from the frameworks that power global platforms to the microservices optimizing niche solutions\, Serveless\, Kubernetes\, Kafka\, and many other technologies.\nSovereignty: How should sovereignty be defined in the age of the cloud\, decentralization\, and ubiquitous connectivity\, all while empowering individuals and organizations to chart their distinct digital paths?\nSociety: Let’s understand the societal implications of rapid technological advances to ensure that we leave no member of society behind\, fostering an equitable and harmonious future.\nSustainability: Let’s explore the sustainable development\, deployment\, and management of software solutions to grasp the importance of eco-friendly digital infrastructures\, ethical AI\, and the long-term impact of our digital choices. \nOAI Track Program Recap\napidays Paris was the 3rd and largest OpenAPI track program so far which consisted of 11 presentations over 3 sessions. The event was very well-attended with ~3500 registrations. Loads of posts to LinkedIn\, here are the main posts from the event: \n\nLinkedIn post December 5: 2473 impressions (as of 12/11/23)\nLinkedIn post December 6: 3441 impressions (as of 12/11/23)\nLinkedIn post December 7: 3396 impressions (as of 12/11/23)\nLinkedIn post December 8: 1982 impressions (as of 12/11/23)\n\nThe OAI Track sessions were happening on two days\, two of them on December 6 and one on December 8. There were more people on December 6 but that was probably because there were fewer competing tracks on that day. On December 8 we were in the afternoon\, so some people were already leaving but there still was competition from 7 other tracks. However\, in all sessions we had full rooms and good engagement from the audience\, oftentimes hanging out in the room after the session to further discuss with speakers. \nSession 1: Current and Future Trends in API Specifications\n\nErik Wilde (Getting APIs to Work) – OAI Track Introduction and The State of OpenAPI\n\n \n\nFrank Kilcommins (SmartBear) – The API Workflows Specification: The Missing Piece of the API puzzle\n(charts)\n\n \n\nSimon Harrer (INNOQ) – OpenAPI for Your Data Mesh: An Introduction to Data Contracts\n\n \n\nOleg Nenashev (WireMock) – OpenAPI Extensibility: The Good\, the Bad\, and the Ugly\n\n \nSession 2: Improving APIs and API Landscapes with API Descriptions\n\nYan Sun (IATA) – How OpenAPI supports airline industry standards and beyond\n(charts)\n\n \n\nBadr Nass Lahsen (CyberArk) – OpenAPI 3.1 and Spring-Boot 3: What’s New?\n\n \n\nNolan Sullivan (Speakeasy) – Get Your OpenAPI Spec Ready For Code Generation\n\n \n\nSteven Willmott (Timewarp): API Discovery: Standards\, Publishing & Search\n(charts)\n\n \nSession 3: API Governance and Management with API Descriptions\n\nStève Sfartz (Cisco) – Managing OpenAPI Documents at Scale\n(charts)\n\n \n\nEmmanuel Bastien (Shell) – API design first: A case for a better language\n\n \n\nDave Shanley (Princess Beef Heavy Industries) – Quality\, Compliance\, and Change Control for OpenAPI\n\n \nContact Information\nFor any questions about the OAI Track\, please contact oai-track@openapis.org. \nWishing all OpenAPI supporters a happy holiday season! See you next year at more OAI Track events!
