SUMMARY:OpenAPI Mini Summit April 2024
DESCRIPTION:Event: OpenAPI Mini Summit Seattle 2024 \nDate: April 15\, 2024 \nVenue: Seattle Convention Center\, Summit Building \nOverview\nThe OpenAPI Mini Summit is part of the Linux Foundation Open Source Summit North America 2024. \nThe Mini Summit is a chance for OpenAPI supporters to get together for face to face meetings while attending the LF Open Source Summit. The main focus will be the soon to be deployed Workflow specification. The Workflow spec shows promise to have a large impact in the API deployment and consumption community. Much of what is done around API and related specifications is focused on the developer. This new spec will help the developer but the larger impact will be for those who consume APIs. This specification details how you can document how your API is used in context with the APIs that preceded it and what follows. This in a machine readable format to lend itself to support automation. The adoption of the spec will  benefit all through the reduction of labor and time to market not just in the deployment of APIs but the consumption as well.  APIs do not generate value until they are used. \nWe had a half day Monday morning the 15th of April. Following the presentation\, we had a discussion on how better API documentation would address the issues some of the attendees raised as questions. \nOAI Mini Summit Agenda\n\nIntroduction to OpenAPI and our mission.\nCurrent activities and focus areas.\nSummary of the soon to be published workflow specification.\nA peak into future releases.\n\nPresenter : Stuart Waldron\, OpenAPI Outreach Chair and OpenTravel Alliance Director\n\nPresentation charts\n\nSights from the conference:

SUMMARY:apidays Singapore 2024
DESCRIPTION:Event: apidays Singapore \nDate: April 17-18\, 2024 \nVenue: The Arts House at The Old Parliament \nOverview\nCustomers are demanding services that help them navigate a changing world\, delivering personalised solutions at scale\, across multiple channels and touchpoints. \nAPIs are the glue that connect businesses\, customers\, government and their partner ecosystems. They enable business processes to embed AI-enabled and partner services to improve customer experience\, employee productivity and cost savings. And APIs connect the tools to manage your tech stack to keep it sustainable and secure. \nOAI Track Program\, April 18\, 2024\nLinks to presentations will be added as they become available. \nOAI Track Introductions and the State of OpenAPI\n\n\n\nSpeaker: Erik Wilde\, OAI Ambassador\, INNOQ\nLinkedIn Posts: It’s a wrap day 2\nLinkedIn Posts: Goodbye to Singapore\n\n\nBest-In-Class Logistics APIs: The Power of Standards in DHL’s Planet-Scale API program\n\nSpeaker: Mario Alvarez\, Software Engineer\, API Group at DHL\nAbstract: In today’s digital age\, APIs have become the building blocks of business transformation\, enabling connectivity\, and amplifying capabilities. This talk will walk you through our journey at DHL Group towards crafting best-in-class logistics APIs as enablers\, empowering our customers to grow and expand. We will explore how adopting standards helped us overcome challenges along the way.\n\n\nIntroducing a Practical API Maturity Assessment using an OpenAPI example to determine cross-organisational maturity\n\nSpeaker: Adrian Melillo\, COO & Co-founder at Excelsa\nAbstract: This presentation introduces an API maturity assessment model that has multiple dimensions to provide both an end-to-end and cross organisational view providing practical advice using an ITIL-based approach. In this session we will explain in more detail how our assessment model can help your organisation start on the right path on your API journey or drive additional value from existing APIs with advice across people\, process and technology. We will do this by referencing some specific examples of evaluating how organisations implement standards\, and specifically OpenAPI\, to provide best practice across each of these pillars.\n\n\nOpenAPI for Code & Docs Generation: Lessons from 1 Million API Definitions\n\nSpeaker: Sohaib Tariq\, Product Manager at APIMatic\nAbstract: OpenAPI-based Code Generation has become Ubiquitous. You can take your pick of Opensource or Proprietary tools that require only your OpenAPI Definition to generate API Clients and Reference Documentation. However\, OpenAPI and other popular API specification formats do not enforce any standards for Code Generation. Thus we often see Code Generators creating ugly or downright unusable code for API Definitions that are Syntactically and Semantically correct. This talk will draw upon the learnings from analyzing over 1 million API Definitions in various formats\, predominantly OpenAPI/Swagger. It will highlight common mistakes made by Developers which are not typically highlighted by OpenAPI Validation and Linting tools but can negatively impact the quality of generated Code and Documentation. The talk will emphasize how the right validation and linting process can help you overcome all of these issues efficiently in order to help you build a world-class Developer Experience for your API.\n\n\nAPI Gateway integration with Identity Management\n\nSpeaker: Madhu Sudan Jangid\, Fractional CTO at Mission Plus\nAbstract: How API Gateways can be used to enhance security postures of an Organization. The decision factors of choosing a right Gateway tool for different use cases. Different design patterns and how the limitations can be solved for the said patterns.
